Speaker Bio
Matt Wilson is General Counsel at Fremantle. Fremantle produces over 12,000 hours of original programming every year across drama, entertainment, documentaries and film. He joined Fremantle in August 2021 and sits on the global board. Matt leads the Legal and Business Affairs teams across the world, who look to give timely, business focused advice to ensure that all of Fremantle’s different projects are given the best chance of success. Prior to Fremantle, Matt grew up in the UK and holds a BA in Economics and Politics from Durham University. Matt started his career with four years at Baker & McKenzie. Following that was an overall six-year stint working for global telco Telefónica with an enjoyable spell at Arsenal Football Club in the middle (he is a huge Arsenal fan). After heading up the legal team for Global Digital Ventures at Telefónica, Matt joined Uber in 2015 and, as General Counsel for EMEA & APAC based in Amsterdam, led a very diverse, international team who helped the business to scale, diversify (launching Uber Eats and JUMP bikes) and stabilise across over 50 countries, ultimately culminating in a successful listing on the NYSE in 2019. Matt is married and splits his spare time between being a climbing frame, personal Uber service and Lego expert for his three young daughters.
