Major General Alex Taylor CB holds a Masters Degree in Public International Law from Cambridge. Post solicitors’ finals, his formative legal career was spent practicing insurance law in the City of London.
He commissioned into the Army Legal Services in 1997 and his military career has been balanced across service prosecutions, advisory work and operational law. Alex attended the Royal College of Defence Studies in 2018, was appointed as Director Army Legal Services in July 2019 and CB in the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Honours.
A keen sportsman, although now a rare sight on a hockey pitch. He is a former Disciplinary Chair for England Hockey and won a golf blue at University. He has two teenage children, for whom he is a constant source of embarrassment.
