Liza is the Chief Legal Counsel of Mondi South Africa (Pty) Ltd, a global leader in the forestry, pulp and paper industry. With over two decades of experience spanning South Africa and the wider African continent, she has led legal teams through major industry shifts, regulatory change and crises, from consumer law reforms to market disruptions such as COVID, riots and floods.

Her expertise goes beyond legal risk management; she has built legal departments that influence strategy, embedded competition law and compliance into business culture, and developed KPI’s that demonstrate value and visibility at the executive table. Known for her preventative approach to law, Liza is passionate about enabling legal teams to be seen not only as risk managers but as business enablers.

She also mentors emerging counsel, supporting growth, resilience and integrity in the profession.
Outside of work, Liza loves playing padel and golf, believing that life must be balanced to make us the best we are, both at home and at work.
