Mark founded Mickelson & Company in 2005 focusing on tax motivated capital with national client base of small and medium sized railroads. Mickco’s counter-parties included numerous financial institutions including Wells Fargo, BMO Harrisbank, FNBO and numerous local and regional banks in the northern and central great plains. Mark spent 10 years as a board member of a regional publicly traded financial institution and chaired their credit committee.
Mickco currently arranges $500MM in federal and state tax credit transfers annually and this volume is projected to increase significantly in the next several years.
Mark has been married to his wife Cynthia for 29 years and they have three adult boys. Mark is an Eagle Scout, as are two of his boys.
Mark is a Harvard law graduate, CPA (inactive), a former speaker of the South Dakota House of Representatives, and close friends with U.S. Senate Majority leader John Thune (R-SD), making him uniquely positioned to comment on the political landscape for tax credits generally and renewable energy tax credits in particular.
