Stephen is a senior manager in the FSO tax practice. Stephen has nearly 15 years of experience, including, in addition to his current role, EY’s National Tax Department.
Within these positions, Stephen has managed the federal income tax compliance and performed the financial statement audits of both international and domestic retail, commercial and investment banks, and other financial service companies, including significant British, Canadian, French, Japanese and Swiss banks, major domestic broker-dealers, global stock exchanges, asset-managers, aircraft, rail, and equipment leasing companies and payment companies.
In addition to compliance and financial statement reporting roles, Stephen advices on various bank and non-bank tax issues, such the taxation of financial products, hedging transactions, Section 475 mark-to-market, Section 166 bad debt, Section 597 analysis, BEAT, US trade or business analysis, Section 864(b)(2) planning, Section 467 lease analysis, NOL/credit carryforward utilization planning, regulatory capital planning, CCAR reporting, and IPO readiness assessments.
Stephen also leads EY’s banking practice’s internal and external tax technical trainings.
Stephen graduated with a Master’s in Tax from the University of Texas at Austin and holds a CPA in Florida.
