Brandon is a Tax Principal within CLA’s Federal Tax Strategies and leads CLA’s Energy Services team. He provides specialized tax services for clients across a wide range of industries, including energy developers and investors, manufacturing, logistics, and financial institutions. Brandon brings over 15 years of public accounting and renewable energy industry experience in the areas of renewable energy tax credits, tax equity transactions, cross border mergers and acquisitions, and tax planning strategies.
Technical experience
• Leads CLA’s tax equity and tax credit transactions team and oversees its Inflation Reduction Act credit consulting practice.
• Executed on $52M tax equity investment for 60 MW photovoltaic power plant and 32 MW battery storage via a partnership flip structure.
• Negotiated terms for renewable natural gas tax credit transfer between two publicly traded companies.
• Served as Global Tax Counsel for publicly traded renewable energy company’s tax equity portfolio and subsequent subsidiary initial public offerings (“IPO’s”).
• Extensive experience negotiating and executing tax equity and renewable tax credit transactions for tax exempt, private, and publicly held companies.
• Buy side advisor for over 35 completed 2023/2024 tax credit purchase transactions.
• Experienced in complex corporate transactions including M&A tax issues, tax due diligence support, international tax planning, and IRS controversy.
