Walter Doggett is a corporate tax professional and an adjunct professor in the Villanova University Graduate Tax Program. He has over 35 years of tax experience, including 25 years of experience in the banking industry. He has also taught tax courses at Loyola University Maryland for the past 15 years. This includes coursework in corporate taxation, individual income tax and state & local tax.
Doggett currently serves as the chief tax officer at First Horizon Bank. He previously held similar roles as the head of tax at Arvest Bank, E*TRADE Bank, Wilmington Trust, Chevy Chase Bank and Riggs Bank. He started his career at KPMG in Baltimore.
Doggett earned a BS degree in finance from the University of Virginia. He also earned an MS in taxation and an MS in leadership from Georgetown University. He earned an MS in finance and an MBA from Loyola University Maryland. He also earned a JD from the University of Maryland and an LLM in tax from Villanova University.
Doggett is a licensed certified public accountant, a licensed attorney (Maryland), a certified financial planner and a chartered financial consultant. He currently serves as the senior vice president for the Tax Executives Institute and previously served on tax committees for the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and the American Bankers Association.
Doggett currently serves on the boards of the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Baltimore Center Stage Theater and Everyman Theater. He previously served on the boards of Loyola University Maryland and as the president of the Cathedral Choral Society in Washington, DC.
