Natalie Hennessy is head of Private Bank Business Tax Advisory group at Citigroup, covering product offerings globally to high net worth and ultra-high net worth clients across a range of categories, including alternative investments, structured products, and derivatives. Natalie was instrumental in establishing policies and procedures to deter, detect and prevent cross-border tax evasion, and also advises on information reporting, documentation, and withholding issues including FATCA and CRS. She has also participated in several M&A transactions.
Previously, Natalie served as head of Consumer Business Tax Advisory at Citigroup, acting as chief domestic tax counsel for the mortgage lending business, the retail banking and commercial banking businesses, and the credit cards business. She has worked at Citigroup since 2009.
Natalie previously worked at Kramer Levin Naftalis and Frankel, LLP, in the tax department. Her work there focused on general federal, state and local tax matters for corporate and individual clients, including debt offerings, equity transactions, and asset transfers. Natalie began her legal career at Thacher Proffitt & Wood, LLP, working in the firm’s tax practice on a variety of mortgage-backed and asset-backed securitization transactions, including REMICs and Trust Preferred transactions.
Natalie earned her B.A. from Yale University, her J.D. from Georgetown, and her L.L.M. from New York University. She lives in New York City.
